CUSTOM VACUUM INSULATION:

Concept Group, Inc. has developed patented and proprietary technologies for manufacturing vacuum insulated tubing and assemblies in small and miniature sizes. This innovative technology has made it possible to create such new applications as cryoablation surgery and cryogenic cooling of microelectronics and sensors.

Vacuum insulation is the best insulating material known and dramatically reduces heat flow, measured as thermal conductivity (k), as demonstrated in the table below. Concept’s proprietary technology has overcome the main barriers to vacuum insulation at such small scales: cost, manufacturability, and long-term loss of vacuum. The result - superior thermal insulation in applications previously not possible.

Concept’s proprietary vacuum insulated probes are the basis for an entire new category of cryoablation surgery. Our Vacuum Insulated probes allow doctors to use hypodermic-needle-sized probes to cryogenically freeze tumors deep within the body without the need for invasive surgery. This technique is now used for 10% of all prostate surgeries and continues to grow in popularity.

Since vacuum insulation has never been available in the sizes and shapes offered by Concept, this technology will continue creating new opportunities in nearly all industries where cooling or heating challenges need to be overcome in smaller packages. Applications currently being developed include cryogenic Gas Chromatographs, cryogenic cooling of electronic sensors (such as Infra Red), super conducting applications, etc.
